A dozen holiday wreaths are available for purchase by silent auction, with all proceeds going to Adopt-a-Family. The wreaths and bid sheets are in the south lobby of the Greene County courthouse. Bidding will close this Thursday at 4 pm so the wreaths can be part of holiday decorating at homes around the county.
The wreaths were donated anonymously to Adopt-a-Family.
According to a board member, 165 families are registered for the Christmas food basket distribution, which is slated for next Saturday. Area churches, residents and businesses have answered the call and the board is close to its $12,000 goal. However, the Adopt-a-Family board provides assistance year-round to financially challenged families. After the $12,000 goal is met, additional funds will go into the coffers for future needs.
“We hope the courthouse is a central location that many people will visit to see the wreaths, and to place bids. We’re very grateful to the donor of the wreaths, and we hope the public will support the auction,” the spokesperson said.
